WhatConverts does calls + forms.
We do forms, better, for a fraction of the price.
Stop paying for call-tracking infrastructure you barely use.
WhatConverts is a real product solving a real problem. For businesses where most of the leads come in by phone. Call tracking is harder to do than form tracking, and they do it well.
But call tracking comes with a real cost: $30+ per tracking number per month, plus per-minute charges, plus the setup work of porting numbers and configuring IVR routing. If your leads come in through forms. Which is true for most SMBs running web-based lead-gen. You’re paying for capability you don’t use.
The capabilities, honestly compared.

Who should pick which?
It’s not about features. It’s about where your leads actually come from.
Most of your leads come in by phone.
- You run search ads that drive phone calls (trades, locksmiths, plumbers, emergency services)
- You need call recording, transcription, or IVR routing
- You have a sales team taking inbound calls and need attribution for them
- You’re primarily US-based and want one tool that handles calls + some forms
- You can absorb $30+/month per tracking number into your CAC math
Most of your leads come in by form.
- Your enquiry path is “visitor browses site, fills out contact form”
- You don’t need call tracking and don’t want to pay for capability you won’t use
- You want one flat monthly price, not per-number fees
- You’re GDPR/UK GDPR/APP-conscious and don’t want a cookie-based tracker
- You want to be live in five minutes, not after a number-porting process
Already paying for WhatConverts?
If your phone leads are minimal. Or you mostly use WhatConverts for form tracking and barely touch the call features. You’re likely overpaying by $200-500/month for capability you don’t use.
What you’ll lose moving to Lead Source: call tracking, call recording, DNI, IVR routing. If those are dormant in your account, you lose nothing in practice.
What you’ll save: the per-number monthly fees, the per-minute charges, the annual contract lock-in. For most SMBs running form-led lead-gen, that’s $200-400/month back.
What you’ll gain: a five-minute install, no cookies, native CRM writes without Zapier, and source data that survives ad-blockers and consent refusals.
Common questions, answered.
Can I track phone calls with Lead Source?
No. We're honest about this. Lead Source tracks form submissions, not phone calls. If you need call tracking, WhatConverts (or CallRail) is the right tool for that job. For phone-call-led businesses, the realistic options are: stay with WhatConverts/CallRail; or use Lead Source for forms and a separate call-tracking solution for phones. Don't pretend we cover calls when we don't.
What about chat widgets. Do you track those?
Yes, if the chat widget submits to a form endpoint. We capture the source at landing and bind it to the chat submission the same way we do with forms. Works with Intercom, Drift, Tawk, native HubSpot chat, and most others.
Will I lose historical data migrating from WhatConverts?
Lead Source can't import historical WhatConverts data. Their data lives in their system. What we can do: start capturing new submissions immediately, and you can export your historical WhatConverts data before cancelling. Most teams run both for a month during the transition.
Is the form tracking actually better, or just cheaper?
Both. Cheaper because there's no call-tracking infrastructure to fund. Better in specific ways: no cookies, faster install, native CRM integration without Zapier, and full session journey instead of last-touch only. We're a form-first product, not a call-tracking product with forms bolted on.
Does WhatConverts work outside the US?
WhatConverts works internationally but is US-centric. Their tracking number coverage is strongest in North America. If you're in Australia, the UK, or other markets, phone number availability and pricing can be patchy. Lead Source is country-agnostic because there are no phone numbers involved.
