Zoho CRM lead source, filled with the real source.
Zoho CRM has a Lead Source picklist on every lead. It only holds the value someone selected. Capture the real source, landing page and full page journey instead, and let Zapier write it into the right Zoho module.
Zoho has a Lead Source picklist. It holds one value.
Zoho CRM is built around modules: Leads, Contacts, Deals, and whatever custom modules you have added in Zoho One. Most modules carry a Lead Source picklist out of the box. It is a single selection from a fixed list, so it answers the channel question and stops there. The campaign, the page they landed on, and the path they took to your form never make it into the record.
One value from the list
- A single picklist value: Web, Advertisement, Referral, Other
- Defaulted by a web form or set by a rep
- Carries across on lead conversion, still just a channel
The detail behind the channel
- The campaign and search behind the click
- The landing page they entered on
- The pages they read before submitting, ending on the page that converted them
In short: Lead Source records the source, landing page and journey the moment a form is submitted, then passes the lead to Zapier so the right Zoho module carries the real story.
Captured on your site. Written into Zoho through Zapier.
Zoho CRM has a live Zapier connector. It is module-aware, which suits Zoho’s structure: you choose the module the lead belongs in, and Zapier creates or updates the entry there.
- 01From the first visit, Lead Source captures the real source, campaign, landing page and full page journey. UTMs, referrer, click IDs, the full session.
- 02On submission, Lead Source logs the lead in your dashboard and forwards it to Zapier.
- 03Your Zap runs Zoho’s Create or Update Module Entry action (or Create Module Entry for a brand new lead). You pick the module, Leads or a custom one, and map the source into the fields available there.
- 04The entry lands in Zoho with the source set at submission, before anyone opens the record. On paid Zoho tiers, instant module triggers keep it quick.
What lands in your Zoho module.
Sample data, not a real customer. The shape of the entry created when a form is submitted and the Zap fires.
Three steps, no surprises.
Only the verified Zoho Zapier action, mapped into the module you choose. No invented field names.
Install the snippet
Add the Lead Source script just before the closing </head> on any page with a form. From then on it captures the source, landing page and journey for every visitor.
Connect Lead Source to Zoho in Zapier
Create a Zap with Lead Source as the trigger and Zoho CRM’s Create or Update Module Entry action as the step. The Zoho connector is a Zapier Premium app, so a paid Zapier plan is needed.
Choose the module and map the source
Pick the module (Leads is the usual one) and map the captured source into the Lead Source picklist or a text field. Send a test submission with a UTM and confirm the entry arrives with the real source.
Integration details verified against Zoho CRM’s Zapier connector on 30 June 2026. We confirmed the Create Module Entry and Create or Update Module Entry actions exist and that the connector is a Zapier Premium app. We did not verify writes to arbitrary custom fields on standard records.
When Zoho isn’t the right fit yet.
A handful of cases where this is the wrong tool, stated plainly.
- You are on a free Zapier plan. Zoho’s connector is a Premium app, so this needs a paid Zapier tier.
- You need the source written into a specific bespoke custom field. We can map into the fields the connector exposes, but we have not verified arbitrary custom-field writes. If a standard source field matters most, the cleanest Zapier setup is Copper’s Source field.
- Your leads arrive mostly by phone or import rather than web forms. The capture is built around form submissions.
Questions, answered.
Does Zoho CRM already track lead source?
Yes. Most Zoho CRM modules carry a Lead Source picklist out of the box. It is a single value chosen from a list, so it records the channel and nothing more. Lead Source fills it through Zapier with the real source captured at form submission, along with the campaign and landing page.
Do I need a paid Zapier plan to connect Zoho?
Yes. Zoho CRM's connector is a Zapier Premium app, so a paid Zapier plan is required to use it in a Zap.
Which Zoho module does the lead land in?
Whichever you choose. The Zoho connector is module-aware: the Create or Update Module Entry action lets you target Leads, Contacts, or a custom module you have built in Zoho One, and the source maps into the fields available there.
