Law firm lead tracking

Know which marketing brings the matters you want.

Directories, an SEO retainer and paid search all take credit for the same new matters. Lead Source records which one each enquiry actually came through, so the budget follows the instructions.

Said in more than one partners’ meeting.

“Half our enquiries say they found us online. That is all they say.”

Every one arrives with the channel, the campaign and the practice-area page that produced it.

“We spend heavily on directories and nobody has ever checked what they return.”

Directory listings sit on the same ranking as search and referrals, judged by the enquiries they sent.

“An enquiry comes in and we cannot tell which practice area brought them.”

The pages they read before the form come attached, fees page and all.

“The first firm to call back usually gets the matter.”

The first reply goes out in seconds, automatically.

Step one

Intake that starts with the facts.

  • A longer intake form that people still finish, so the first call starts with the matter rather than a name.
  • Our forms produce 3x the ROI of a standard form, measured across our own accounts.
  • The consultation request, the callback box on a practice-area page, the form nobody has edited since launch: all captured. How form tracking works.
  • Each enquiry is kept in your account, so none depends on one notification reaching the right partner.

Step two

Directories and retainers, ranked by results.

  • The legal directory, the paid search campaign and the SEO retainer are each credited with the enquiries they produced.
  • Channels sort by the clients they brought in. That settles the directory renewal without a meeting.
  • The SEO agency's report of rankings and traffic finally has something to be checked against.
  • The account belongs to the firm, not to the agency or whoever built the website.

Step three

Reply before the next firm does.

  • Whoever replies first tends to get the consultation.
  • An acknowledgement goes out in seconds, even when every fee earner is in court.
  • Intake sees the practice-area pages they read before anyone picks up the phone.
  • Nobody waits until after the afternoon hearing to hear back.

One line in the site head. Then back to billing.

Whoever looks after the website pastes it in once, and every consultation form on every page is tracked from then on. Nobody configures events or goals.

That one line is all lead source tracking needs.

Why firms keep it

Four reasons firms keep it running.

01

No marketing department needed.

Once the line is on the site, the upkeep is nil. The practice manager never touches a setting.

02

The firm keeps the record.

Change marketing agency and every past enquiry, with its source, stays on the firm's side.

03

$19 a month.

It starts on the free plan with no card. Paid plans come with 90 days to ask for a refund.

04

Or ask for a second reading.

Partners with no time for it can pass the numbers to our consulting team, who go through them with the firm and say where the budget should go.

Written for a firm's intake. Other readers get their own version: insurance agencies, MSPs, business owners, agencies, in-house marketers, or start at all use cases.

Questions, answered

Law firm questions, answered.

Is client enquiry data secure?

Yes. The names, emails and phone numbers on each enquiry are encrypted at rest and in transit, and access to them is tightly controlled. Lead Source is aligned with GDPR, UK GDPR and the Australian Privacy Principles, which matters when an enquiry describes somebody's legal problem.

Does it need a cookie banner?

Lead Source itself sets no cookies and keeps nothing in the browser. It captures the source on the server at the moment of submission, with the firm as data controller, which keeps it out of ePrivacy and PECR cookie-banner scope. A Google tag running alongside it is a separate matter: it does set client-side identifiers, so it stays in your existing consent flow.

Can our marketing agency see the data?

Only if the firm shares it. The data is first-party, collected on your own site, and you can export or delete it whenever you like. That makes it the record the agency's monthly report gets checked against, rather than the other way round.

What is speed to lead?

The time between a prospective client submitting your enquiry form and the firm's first reply. Shorter is better, because people with a legal problem tend to instruct whichever firm answers first. The speed to lead page has the longer version.
