Lead Source is now in the Wix App Market. Free, two clicks, no code.

If you run a Wix site, you can now see which marketing produced each form lead without enabling developer mode, writing backend JavaScript, or pasting anything into a settings panel.

Here is what it does, and why it matters if you are on Wix.

The gap in every Wix site

Wix forms collect what people type. Name, email, phone, whatever you asked for. That part works.

What they do not collect is where the person came from. Someone fills in your contact form and you have no idea whether they found you through a Google ad you are paying for, an organic search, a LinkedIn post, or a bookmark from three weeks ago.

So every enquiry looks the same. Which means your marketing budget is a guess.

Wix’s own answer is a developer project

Go looking for how to fix this on Wix and the path you will find is Velo.

Velo is Wix’s developer mode. To capture lead source with it you enable developer mode on your site, write backend JavaScript to handle form submission events, create a data collection to store source data against each submission, then test it across desktop and mobile and maintain it as Wix updates its APIs.

That is a project. On a platform most people chose specifically so they would not have to run projects.

What the app does instead

Two clicks.

  1. Open the Wix App Market from your dashboard
  2. Search for Lead Source and click Add to Site

That is the install. Nothing to paste, nothing to configure, and no changes to the forms you have already built.

Then go and fill in one of your own forms. Add ?utm_source=test to the URL first if you want to see the source populate. It arrives in seconds.

What you get on every submission

Four things your form tool never had:

  • The real source. The channel and campaign that produced them, not “Direct” and not blank.
  • The landing page. The first page they hit on your site, which is usually not the one they filled in.
  • The journey. The pages they read before deciding to get in touch.
  • The form. Which one, on which page, when you are running more than one.

Put together, that turns a list of names into an answer: this channel produced eleven enquiries last month, that one produced nothing.

The other way in

The app is not the only route. Lead Source has always worked on Wix through a single script tag pasted into the Custom Code panel, and that still works exactly as before.

The difference is what each one asks of you. The Custom Code panel needs a published site with a connected domain, which is a paid Wix feature. The app does not use the panel at all.

Same capture either way. Same dashboard. Same data. The app is just shorter.

What it costs

The app is free to install from the Wix App Market.

Lead Source itself has a free tier, so you can see your first leads arrive with their sources attached without paying anything. Paid plans exist for when you outgrow it.

If you are on Wix, this is the short version

Install the app, fill in your own form, and look at what arrives. If nothing on your site is currently recording where your form leads come from, that will take about two minutes to confirm and it is worth knowing either way.
