Formidable Forms lead tracking

How to track lead source in Formidable Forms

Formidable already handles the data people type. Lead Source adds the campaign that brought them, on every entry, with nothing to set up per form.

Each entry names the campaign, the channel and the page that started the visit.

Formidable, zero per-form build

No hidden field per form and no hook to keep alive. New forms are covered on day one.

Formidable views stay as built

Views, calculations and reports keep reading your entry data, untouched.

Three steps, every Formidable form

One snippet in the header covers the lot, whichever licence you run.

Formidable attribution

Credit every Formidable entry

People pick Formidable because they want to do things with their data. Lead Source hands every entry the one fact the form never saw: the visit. Channel, campaign and landing page arrive on the lead. Then the budget follows the winner.

  • Source, channel and campaign on every entry.
  • Full UTM set, click IDs and referrer.
  • First and last visit, plus every page viewed.

Formidable, zero per-form build

The usual Formidable recipe is a hidden field on each form, filled from the URL, with something listening on frm_after_create_entry to pass the value on. It works, and somebody maintains it forever. Lead Source reads the page instead of the entry. Nothing to add.

  • No field to add when a form changes.
  • Existing hidden fields keep working as they are.
  • A form built tomorrow is tracked from its first entry.
Lookup fields

Formidable lookups, plus the visit

Formidable’s lookup and populated fields are excellent at pulling in values you already hold, from another entry or a post. A campaign name was never passed into the form, so Lead Source takes it from the visit itself. Your lookups keep their job. The campaign gets its own.

Views and reports

Formidable views stay as built

Views, calculations, reporting and front-end displays all run on what was typed into the form, and that data stays exactly as it is. The attribution lives in Lead Source beside the lead. Both sets of numbers, neither rearranged.

  • Entry data unchanged, field for field.
  • Views and reports keep their current output.
  • Campaign and journey held on the Lead Source record.

Setup

Three steps, every Formidable form

  1. Install the free WPCode plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.
  2. Open Code Snippets, then Header and Footer, paste the Lead Source tracking code into the Header section and save.
  3. Clear your page cache. Refreshed pages start running the code straight away.

Free or paid Formidable, the install is identical. The WordPress lead tracking guide covers the rest of the site.

How do I add lead source to Formidable Forms entries?

Put the Lead Source tracking code in your WordPress header and clear the cache. Every Formidable entry then reaches Lead Source as a lead with its channel, campaign, click IDs, landing page and the pages viewed first. No hidden field and no frm_after_create_entry code required.

Which Formidable entries come back with thin attribution?

Entries from visitors Lead Source never saw before they submitted. With no visit to match, the attribution may be limited or unknown. Install the code and clear the cache. Every visit after that is on record.

Common questions

Formidable Forms questions, answered.

Can I keep my existing hidden fields?

Yes. Lead Source does not read them or interfere with them.

Does it work with Formidable views and reports?

Those run on your entry data, which does not change. The attribution lives in Lead Source alongside the lead.

Do I need the Pro version?

Not for this. The tracking code works regardless of which Formidable licence you run.
